Dr. Terry L. Norris, D.M.D.
Dr. Norris was raised in Moon Township, PA which happens to be the hometown of the famed UK basketball coach, John Calipari. In 1974 Dr. Norris received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA where he also played varsity soccer for three years. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1978.
In March of 1979, Dr. Norris began his practice in Owensboro, KY. In his 37 years of practice, he has served on both the Daviess County and the Green River District Boards of Health for 30 plus years. In 2013 and 2014 he served as the Chairman of the District Board. He was also the dental consultant for the employee benefit program of the Green River District Health Department. As a lifelong member of the American Dental Association and the Kentucky Dental Association, Dr. Norris has received numerous citations for service including two Fellowship Awards and a Presidential Citation from the Kentucky Dental Association. He also has received the Don Newsome Award from Green River Dental Society. In 2005 he was honored in becoming a Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In 2011 he was named President-Elect of The Kentucky Dental Association and he finished his term as President of that Association in 2013. In 2012 he was elected as a Fellow to the American College of Dentists which serves as the leadership and ethical arm of dentistry. Only 3.5% of all dentists have been elected to this College. Presently he serves as the chairman of the Kentucky Section of the American College of Dentists. He also serves as a delegate to the Kentucky Dental Association and has served as the Chairman of the Council on the Annual Session for the Association for 20 years before stepping down this year. Besides his office duties, Dr. Norris began reviewing dental claims for Health Resources Inc. out of Evansville, Indiana. This has led to his membership in the American Association of Dental Consultants. In May 2015 he received his certification from that group as a Certified Dental Consultant.
In Owensboro, Dr. Norris has volunteered at the Christian Dental Mission for 19 years. Other areas of community service during his career have been with the Southern Baptist Convention serving on the Executive Committee and on the Committee on Committees. He has been the moderator and twice the vice-moderator of the Daviess McLean Baptist Association and has served in numerous churches in Owensboro with his membership being at First Baptist for the last 14 years.
He is married to Ginger who began working as patient coordinator at the office after her retirement from the Owensboro Public Schools as a speech/language pathologist. Together they have three grown sons and five grandchildren.
Dr. Norris is a strong advocate for Owensboro and counts it a blessing to be part of a family friendly and thriving community.
